Darren Treiber

General Vice President/Brotherhood Railway Carmen Division 

Brother Darren Treiber started his career in the rail industry when he was selected to attend the BNSF Conductor Training Program at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS, in May of 2000.  After completing the training program, he started employment with CSXT at Garrett, IN, in July of 2000 as a freight train conductor trainee and was marked up as a conductor in December of 2000.  Brother Treiber was employed with CSXT from July 2000 until April 2002.  During his time as a CSXT conductor, he was in charge of moving freight from the CSXT yard in Garrett, IN to various yards, on various rail lines in the Chicago, IL area along with various CSXT yards in Ohio. 

In April 2002, Brother Treiber started his employment with BNSF Railway at Mandan, ND as a Carman apprentice and completed his apprenticeship on June 18, 2004. From April 2002 until December 2014, he worked in the Carmen’s Craft inspecting, repairing and re-railing freight cars in the Mandan yard and on the line of road.

In June 2002, Brother Treiber joined and became an active member of Lodge 6440.  In July 2004, he was elected by the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen Local in Lodge 6440 as Chairman of the Local Protective Committee.  He assumed Chairman duties in August 2004 and relinquished the position in July 2020.  During his time as Chairman, he represented Local Lodge 6440 members in North Dakota, Montana, Minnesota and Wyoming.

In December 2014, Brother Treiber was promoted to the position of TCU Carmen Division Unit 50 Assistant National Representative until June of 2017, when he was promoted to the position of TCU Carmen Division Unit 50 National Representative.  During his time as a TCU Carmen Division Representative, he represented the membership on all BNSF and MRL properties.

In July 2018, Brother Treiber was elected to the Carmen Division General Executive Board to serve a four-year term.  During the term, he served as Board Secretary and Chairman.

In July of 2022, he was elected as Carmen Division General Vice President and assumed the duties in September of 2022.  Brother Treiber’s current duties include representing the membership on the Alaska Railroad, TTX, Amtrak, Keolis, TASI and New Jersey Transit. 

In October of 2022, he was appointed as a member to the FRA RSAC.  As a member of this committee, he is involved in various working groups that address safety issues within the rail industry.
